Boone County Busted Mugshots Explained
A booking photograph is simply an identification picture snapped when someone is taken into custody. Around it sits the wider booking record. That file can tie a name to the arrest time, the arresting agency, the charge listed at booking, custody movement, bond details, and the photo itself when one is releasable. Several hands build it. The Boone County sheriff, the Belvidere Police Department, and other agencies each contribute their piece, and the Boone County Adult Detention Facility holds the person and reports custody status.
Capacity numbers come with fine print. The county touts a 150-detainee expansion, yet the December 10, 2024 Illinois DOC inspection records a different capacity figure. Neither number reflects daily bookings. They describe how each source defines the facility under inspection conditions.
A good first stop is the official Boone County Sheriff's Office page. It lays out the sheriff's duties and explains where county jurisdiction ends and city jurisdiction begins. Keep it handy as a starting point for records questions.
The source page identifies the office for the next records question; it is not a photo gallery.
Boone County Booking Fields
Illinois law supplies a useful field list for a targeted request, but a statutory field is not the same as a field displayed on a public website. Under 5 ILCS 140/2.15, an arrest report can include the identity of the person, age, address, photograph when and if available, charges, time and location, arresting agency, and custody received, discharged, or transferred. Some details may be withheld when release would interfere with law enforcement, endanger safety, or compromise correctional security. Juvenile confidentiality still controls.
Use the field list to describe one person's record, with the agency, name, date range, and exact record type. That gives the records officer a workable search and separates a booking number from a Circuit Clerk case number.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name and identity | The person identified in the arrest report or custody record. A name alone is not enough to confirm identity. |
| Age or birth details | Age may support a match. Full birth details should not be republished without a clear records need. |
| Arrest date, time, and place | When and where the arrest was recorded, subject to statutory withholding rules. |
| Arresting agency | The office that made the arrest, such as Belvidere Police or the Boone County Sheriff. |
| Charges as booked | The initial charge, which may differ from the later court docket. |
| Booking photograph | An intake image only when one exists and the custodian releases it. |
| Custody movement | Receipt, discharge, or transfer information, not a final case result. |
| Bond information | Payment or release terms when maintained by the responsible office. |
| Court date or case number | A bridge to the Circuit Clerk, not proof that the charge was sustained. |
Addresses, cell assignments, operational details, victim information, and juvenile information are not default public profile fields. A statutory field may still be redacted or absent from a Boone interface, so verify it with the originating office.
Requesting Boone Booking Records
The county's FOIA page routes requests to the proper departmental officer and links the Boone County NextRequest portal. It describes a five-business-day response framework, with extensions where allowed, and says the first 50 pages are free while later pages cost 15 cents per page. Those are county FOIA instructions, not a promise that a booking photo exists or that a request will be granted without redaction.
The Sheriff Records Division request page identifies Liz Weber as FOIA officer. The contact card below lists 815-544-3024 and weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; county materials also show 815-547-1704, so confirm the current line.
Ask separately for the report, booking sheet, releasable photograph, bond record, and custody movement. Belvidere requests use its incident reports and FOIA page; Cherry Valley requests should name the arresting agency and booking county.
- Identify the arresting agency and the likely booking county. Use the person's name plus an arrest date or narrow date range.
- File through NextRequest or the sheriff's request route, and state that the request is under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
- List each item sought, including the report, booking sheet, photograph if maintained and available, bond record, and discharge or transfer record.
- Ask the custodian to identify withheld fields and the legal exemption, or to identify another department if it does not hold the record.
- Save the request, response, redactions, and delivery date. Use the Circuit Clerk for the later case record and disposition.

No public Boone retention schedule for booking photographs was found. Ask Records for the approved series, retention period, transfer location, and disposition authority; a missing online image is not proof that no booking happened.
Busted Records and Illinois Law
Illinois treats arrest information as public with limits. 5 ILCS 140/2.15 says covered information must be furnished as soon as practical and no later than 72 hours after arrest, with a photograph only “when and if available.” That is not a same-day web-feed mandate.
Law-enforcement, safety, correctional-security, and juvenile limits can produce redactions, no maintained photo, or a referral to the arresting agency. Public-record status does not turn an accusation into guilt.
Charges are not convictions. A booking entry and photograph describe an arrest event. Check the Boone County Circuit Clerk docket for later charges and disposition before drawing a conclusion about the case.
Illinois also bars a publisher or disseminator from soliciting a fee to remove, correct, or modify criminal-record information, including an arrest photograph, under 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ. Send factual errors and official documentation to the source. For qualifying dismissal, supervision, sealing, or expungement, use the current Illinois Courts forms and 20 ILCS 2630/5.2 rules.
RecentlyBooked describes free corrections for dismissed, expunged, sealed, wrong-person, juvenile, duplicate, or outdated records; Mugshots.com describes free document-based maintenance. The Busted Newspaper Illinois directory, Arrests.org Illinois directory, and Mugshots.zone inventory did not verify an active Boone section. These unofficial pages do not replace county, court, or agency records. Do not pay to erase an accurate public record.
For a source-page view of the Illinois Courts route, see the official expungement and sealing forms page.
The capture points to court forms and record relief, not to a page of booking photographs.
Find Boone County Busted Mugshots
One search result won't answer every custody question, so work a chain of sources instead. Boone County's documented status system is VINELink, run through Boone corrections. There's no sheriff-hosted gallery to browse here. If a search comes up empty, the person could be released, transferred, booked in a different county, or held by another agency entirely.
City arrests take a different path. Start with the agency that made the arrest. Then check the court file. Belvidere and Poplar Grove each have their own local contacts, while Cherry Valley arrests may land in Winnebago County instead.
- Write down the person's full name, likely city, approximate arrest date, and any agency or case number.
- Select Illinois and the relevant jurisdiction in VINELink. Check current custody and register for available notifications.
- If no result appears, test the release, transfer, and county-line explanations. Do not treat an empty result as proof that no arrest record exists.
- Ask the arresting agency or sheriff's Records Division for the report and a publicly releasable photo under FOIA.
- Use the Boone Circuit Clerk's Judici route for cases since August 1993, or courthouse files and microfilm for older cases.
- Use state or federal locators only when the custody state fits. IDOC is for state prison or supervision; BOP and ICE are separate federal paths.
Boone's own V.I.N.E. Link page is the county's official handoff point, so confirm custody there before trusting any secondary listing.
Where Boone County Mugshots Appear
Boone County has no public same-day booking page. There is no date-filtered roster, no photo download, and no sheriff app. So the official route comes first. News sites and third-party pages can act as leads only. They tend to be selective and delayed, and some show copied or placeholder images rather than the real thing.
| Channel | Photo? | Official? | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| VINELink | Not documented as a photo gallery | Official county-linked status route | Select Illinois and the right jurisdiction for current custody and notifications. |
| Sheriff or arresting agency FOIA | Ask for one if maintained and releasable | Official records route | Use a name, date, agency, and exact record type. |
| Boone Circuit Clerk or Judici | Not a booking-photo source | Official court route | Check case history, hearings, charge changes, and disposition. |
| IDOC Individual in Custody Search | Public photo field not established | Official state route | Use only for people in Illinois state custody or on parole. |
| Local and regional news | Varies by story and source | Editorial | Use Boone County Journal, WIFR, WREX, or MyStateline as a lead, then verify. |
| RecentlyBooked Boone | Sample showed a placeholder | No, unofficial | It is a current-looking secondary lead, not a custody confirmation. |
| Mugshots.com Illinois Boone | Historical pages may contain copied images | No, unofficial | Reviewed material was mainly 2011-2021 and is not a current roster. |
| Other aggregator directories | No verified Boone section | No | Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone results did not establish a live local section. |
When a photo actually matters, pin down two things. Get the custodian and the date. Never copy a secondary image into a fresh collection. Also remember that current custody and past booking records are two different questions, and each has its own path.
Busted and Booked: Boone Roster Route
The Boone corrections page describes V.I.N.E. as a service for custody status and criminal case information that runs around the clock. The Illinois Attorney General calls VINE a free, secure, and confidential system. It ties county jail, state, and court data together. What Boone doesn't spell out is a fixed search form or a public photo policy. Nor does it state an update schedule or how long records are kept.
Secondary guides may promise cell numbers, release dates, or photo fields. Treat those claims with caution unless the live system shows them. Rely on what the tool presents. Ask the sheriff's office directly for anything missing.
| Documented route | Safe description |
|---|---|
| Person and jurisdiction | Search the live VINE interface after selecting Illinois and the relevant jurisdiction. |
| Custody status | Use the result for a current status indication, then verify a changed status with the agency or court. |
| Case information | VINE may connect status and case data, but the Circuit Clerk remains the court source. |
| Photograph | No Boone public photo field or posting rule was documented. Request a releasable photo through FOIA. |
| Notifications | VINE may provide phone, email, text, TTY, and mobile-app notification options. |
- Open VINELink from the county's official V.I.N.E. page, select Illinois, and choose the correct jurisdiction.
- Search the person and record the search date and status shown by the system.
- Register for a notification if the result permits it. Keep the confirmation and update contact details.
- For a photo or report, contact the arresting agency or Boone Records Division instead of a secondary roster.
Think of VINE as a live status check, not a booking archive. Annual reports and the Illinois DOC jail inspection add facility context, but neither reconstructs an individual's mugshot history. The Boone V.I.N.E. page shows the route the county has chosen.
The capture shows how the status route works and where it stops. No Boone County booking-photo gallery appears there.
Busted Last Night? Boone Booking Feeds
Boone County has no official same-day or multi-day booking feed. That holds across the sheriff's site, corrections pages, county press releases, and the Belvidere, Poplar Grove, and Cherry Valley channels. The county press-release archive isn't a daily arrest log. Cherry Valley posts annual reports and statistics; Belvidere offers incident-report and FOIA access; Poplar Grove has a village FOIA form. None of them is a public mugshot feed.
For same-day answers, stack three routes: VINELink for current custody, the arresting agency for the report, and the county records path for booking material. The 72-hour language in 5 ILCS 140/2.15 governs how covered arrest information must be produced, not how fast a website refreshes. An empty search can stem from release, transfer, exemptions, juvenile rules, or a booking in another county.
Requesting a multi-day batch? Keep the date range narrow. Ask for arrest date and time, location, agency, identity and age, charge description, whether custody was received or transferred, bond information when it's maintained, and a photograph if one exists. If the record belongs to a different department, ask the office to name the proper custodian.
Boone has a documented status route but no public booking window or archive. A third-party timestamp is not an official release alert.
Illinois DOC Offender Photos
The Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search covers people sentenced to state prison or living under IDOC supervision. A fresh Boone County jail booking is a different animal. Search fields on the public interface include last name, IDOC number, and birthdate. Results may show the institution, status, physical profile, admission or release details, and sentencing data.
The public search has limits. IDOC's FAQ states that completed sentences drop out of the regular search. Archived-record requests go through the Contact Us form: pick "Record Search" and supply full name, birthdate, year received, and county or facility when known. IDOC keeps admission, update, and release photos under internal standards. The public search offers no general photo download. Victim Services can provide a recent photo of a person convicted of a felony upon release, through a narrow request route. That is not a public county mugshot service.
A state-prison result means custody has changed hands. Don't describe it as a Boone jail booking. A state profile never replaces the Boone Circuit Clerk docket either.
Note: State and federal locators do not backfill a Boone jail archive or settle a county court disposition.
Federal and ICE Custody Routes
Federal custody runs on a separate track. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 forward. You can search by register number or name details. Expect location, status, age, sex, race, and release information. It is not a Boone booking search or a photo gallery. The ICE Online Detainee Locator works from a name and A-number or biographical details. It covers only limited current or recent ICE custody, with exclusions and processing delays of its own.
Boone's immigration page links to the ICE/HSI Victim Notification Program. That link doesn't prove an ICE contract or a local roster. Federal prisoner photographs aren't released through the public locator route the U.S. Marshals Service describes. When the trail turns federal, work through the federal agency and the courts.
Busted or Released: Record Paths
A roster answers one narrow question: who is in custody right now. That answer can vanish the moment someone is released or moved. The booking record itself usually stays on file with the agency long after the name drops off the list. For the case that follows, the court docket tells a different and more complete story.
| Custody state | Best first route | What the record means |
|---|---|---|
| Recently arrested or in Boone custody | VINELink, then the arresting agency | Current or recent custody information may be available. Booking charges remain charges. |
| Released from Boone custody | FOIA request and Circuit Clerk | The live status may drop away while the arrest report, booking sheet, or photo remains subject to records rules. |
| Transferred to another county | Confirm the receiving agency | A missing Boone result may reflect a different booking location, not a missing event. |
| Sentenced to Illinois prison | IDOC Individual in Custody Search | The person is in state custody or supervision, not the ordinary Boone jail roster. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP, ICE, or the relevant federal court | Federal custody is separate from a Boone County booking and may have different disclosure limits. |
Boone Court Dates and Dispositions
Head to the Boone County Circuit Clerk at 601 N. Main Street in Belvidere, or call 815-544-0371 during weekday hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cases from August 1993 onward live on Judici. Anything older means courthouse indexes, paper files, or microfilm. A written name-and-year search costs $6 plus copy fees, and you should budget four to six weeks for the reply.
Arraignments typically happen in Court Room #1 at 1:15 p.m. on weekdays, though judges can shift the schedule. Bond can be paid in cash or by card, and GovPayNow is an option with a 7% transaction fee. The details sit on the official bonding page.
- Booking
- Processing a person into detention after an arrest or other intake event.
- Arraignment
- A court appearance where the case and next legal steps are addressed.
- Bond
- A court or jail release condition. Payment does not decide the case.
- Disposition
- The court outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, supervision, or conviction.
- Expungement
- A legal process that can remove qualifying records under Illinois law.
Follow the disposition. A Boone County booking photo and its charge label can't tell you how a case ended. Dismissed, reduced, resolved through supervision, or something else entirely? The Circuit Clerk record holds that answer.
For a first-hand look at the local hearing schedule, the Boone County video-arraignment page is the place to check. The Circuit Clerk remains the authoritative source for court records.
The official court route gives a booking event its later context. It is not a substitute for legal advice.
Boone County VINE Alerts
VINELink does more than name lookups. Boone County offers round-the-clock access to custody and criminal-case status, and the Illinois Attorney General describes VINE alerts by phone, email, text, TTY, and a mobile app. Register only when the live system actually shows the record. Save the confirmation, and verify any important change with the agency or the court directly.
One caution: social media is not an alert system. County press releases and department accounts may mention selected events, but they are not complete booking feeds, and a third-party timestamp proves nothing about custody status.
Boone's immigration link serves a different purpose. The county connects people to the ICE/HSI victim-notification route, while ICE and BOP run their own custody locators. Someone in state or federal custody belongs in those systems, not on a Boone jail inmate list. Juveniles stay outside the adult booking-photo workflow too. The 2024 jail inspection listed no juvenile beds, and Illinois arrest-report law keeps juvenile records confidential.
Busted Mugshots by Boone City
City routing here follows the arresting agency and the booking destination. No town runs its own mugshot feed. Belvidere Police is an independent department. When someone is held at the county jail, that is the practical custody route. Poplar Grove's directory places the Boone County Sheriff under its Police Department category. Cherry Valley straddles Boone and Winnebago Counties. Confirm the booking county before relying on Boone sources.
- Belvidere Busted Mugshots: use Belvidere incident records for the arrest report and Boone VINELink when county detention applies.
- Poplar Grove Busted Mugshots: start with the sheriff-policed route and the village FOIA form, then confirm custody.
- Cherry Valley Busted Mugshots: check the city police and Winnebago route first when the arrest was handled on that side of the county line.
Local news is not a city arrest log, and a secondary city label may not identify where the booking actually happened. The linked pages put each distinction beside the correct agency.
Boone Booking Archives and Retention
No public Boone schedule says how long booking sheets or intake photographs are kept. Illinois Secretary of State guidance puts county records under the Local Records Act. Retention is set by Commission approval. Ask the sheriff's office for the series, the retention period, any transfer location, and the disposal authority.
The Circuit Clerk is the clearer court archive. Judici covers cases back to August 1993. Older material waits at the courthouse, and IDOC's FAQ has a separate "Record Search" route for completed state sentences. None of these is a jail photo archive.
The Boone County Journal keeps a weekly archive from 2024 forward. A story can preserve a date, an agency, or a case lead. It is not the booking record, though, and an old page says nothing about current custody.
